Bartek Kujawski - Murlull Movies

This is the first record where Bartek Kujawski appears under his real name. Previously he has released three albums as 8rolek.
This time we won’t find any simple or direct reminiscents to dance music. Very quickly dancable pulse is melted in the ravel sounds that reminds sometimes classical music, sometimes contemporary, soundtracks to old and forgotten movies, religious, sacral compositions, and sometimes free-jazz even. Fortunately, these are only far associations and it is defenitely a very hard job, if somebody wants to classify this tasty music.
Although it might seem that such compositions and the whole CD appear to be chaotic, build of incomprehensible glued ingredients, but it is nothing like that – listened carefully it appears as a coherent and consequent story. The narrative is full of mistakes and purely human emotions, planned explosions and unpredictable turns of action.

To buy, check here, or listen to the whole album for free at last.fm.

The Audacity team has just announced the release of the new beta version 1.3.5 of their audio editor for Windows, OSX and Linux.

Changes include improvements and new features for recording, import/export and the user interface. Because it is a work in progress and does not yet come with complete documentation or translations into foreign languages, it is recommended for more advanced users. For all users, Audacity 1.2.6 is a stable release, complete and fully documented. You can have Audacity 1.2.6 and 1.3.5 installed on the same machine.

All Tiny Creatures

Megafaun
All Tiny Creatures
Monday May 12th, 7pm – The Project Lounge
817 E Johnson St.
Madison, WI 53703

Thomas Wincek -the guy behind Emotional Joystick and newest member of Collections of Colonies of Bees, and Ben Derickson -the guy behind Curtis Chip and Zod Records, have a new musical project and they have their first show this Monday. All Tiny Creatures is a fusion of all things minimal, drawing equally on influences like Philip Glass, micro-techno, krautrock and beyond. Live, they do this with Wincek on Rhodes, electronics and guitar, Derickson on drums, Andy Fitzpatrick on guitar and electronics and Matthew Skemp on bass. And they do it LOUD.

Please come to the Project Lodge in Madison Wisconsin (early, the show starts at 7), and be a part of their first live show opening for the 3-part vocal harmonizing, Free-Folk trio / best-friends Megafaun, who are touring in support of their critically acclaimed debut released on Table of the Elements records. Equally acclaimed is their raucous, audience inclusive live set, which has been perfected during their recent tour with fellow beard-men Akron Family. Ever wonder how good you are at playing the shaker? You’re going to find out.

Concert: Sparks (Peter Evans+Tom Blancarte) with Joel Ryan

In a post-Tonic / post-Knitting Factory New York, there seems to be a new emerging scene of exciting improvised and experimental music. These younger musicians are virtuosic and versatile with their instruments, and remind us how this city has always bred amazing artists despite its hostile environment. If you listen to Evans’ music it’s hard not to be impressed by his playing. His duo with Blancarte is hyperactive and bursting with energy. They will be working in the STEIM studios for a couple of days with Joel Ryan, concluding in this special concert. It will be interesting to see how our own wizard of live processing will channel their energy and create another sound dimension.
Take a listen to their music: http://www.myspace.com/nycsparks

Date: Tuesday, May 6
Venue: STEIM, Utrechtsedwarsstraat 134, Amsterdam
Time: 20.30 hrs.
Entrance: 5 euros
Reservations and more information: knock@steim.nl or 020-6228690
