Doofgoblin – Album-RL

Broken and chaotic, that are the two keywords that spring to mind when listening to Album-RL, the latest offering by Doofgoblin. But that is only on a first, quick listen. When you listen more carefully to this album, you’ll find that everything is actually quite organized. It’s just a matter of very intricate programming.

Aside from a wonderful display of programming, the sounds are also beautiful. Beautiful textures, well-chosen rhythms, deep basses are all blending into the perfect mix of everything. It overtakes you easily when you’re listening, and takes you on an exciting trip into the world that is Doofgoblin. A quote from the press kit that came with this release for me describes it very well: “Sound is collected, folded and puctuated by fluid abstraction, but what’s around the next corner is rarely predictable from track to track.

Album-RL is a beautiful follow-up to the previous Marblebarrel release, but should not just be seen as a follow-up. It is it’s own entity, seemingly living and breathing it’s way into your mind.

Released on Unschooled
